“It’s no secret,” writes Melanie Warner at Bnet, that Dunkin’ Donuts is expanding in order to become “as annoyingly ubiquitous as Starbucks.” It’s already almost there. As Warner notes, Dunkin’, which opened 171 new stores in 2009, now has 6,566 U.S. stores. Starbucks (SBUX), which has recently closed...

Jim Romenesko, author of the Starbucks Gossip blog, just got back from Toronto . While he was there, he surveyed the damage done by people who call themselves “protesters,” but who mainly seem interested in venting their unfocused rage, or are just looking for kicky fun. “I saw two or three Starbucks stores that had windows broken...

Starbucks Results Prove Recession’s Over
If a national economic recovery is defined as two quarters of growth in a row, how should we define what’s happening at Starbucks ? Boom times. Profits: up eightfold in the second quarter. Starbucks Drops the Stealth
Starbucks’ experiments with “stealth” stores—outlets that look much different from regular Starbucks and are called by different names—have been a success, the company says. Starbucks Hooks Up With Burger King
It’s hard to say yet whether Starbucks (SBUX) is losing the coffee war with McDonald ’s (MCD), which now offers higher-end coffee drinks. But most coffee is drunk at home and in the office, and now Starbucks is planning to infiltrate both venues , Advertising Age...

A Big Turnaround for Starbucks?
A Big Turnaround for Starbucks?
Is Starbucks ‘ (SBUX) CEO Howard Schultz disproving the idea that entrepreneurs make lousy managers? Or is it that Schultz has changed, matured, grown into his position as a corporate leader?
