  Make sure you check out my Detroit Red Wings blog: redwings.crashthenet.ca March 26th, 1997 The Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche met at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI for a regular season game. This game turned into a classic when it erupted into a brawl that even involved two hall of fame goaltenders. The focal point of this battle, however, was the retribution given to Claude Lemieux by Darren McCarty for Lemieux's cheap shot on Kris Draper in game 6 of the Western Conference Finals in 1996. It is thought that this night bonded the Red Wings together enough for their run to the Stanley Cup in 1997, their first since 1955. It was a momentous night in Hockeytown.

Let us begin with the first, late in the opening period Wednesday night, when he spun away from a linesman and coldcocked Colorado's Claude Lemieux in the face. Lemieux fell to his knees, fans jumped to their feet, and you could kiss any chance of a normal hockey game this evening good-bye. It was Fight Night now at Joe Louis Arena. And McCarty wasn't finished. He whacked Lemieux again with a left- handed fist, and when Lemieux curled into a crouch, holding his bleeding face, McCarty held him by the back of the neck with one hand and swung repeatedly with the other, throwing punches that seemed to have the force of the entire, roaring building behind them. Before he was done, McCarty would drag Lemieux, stunned and bloody, to the front of the Wings bench, like a caveman dragging his kill to the front of his cave, showing it off for the others.   La Columbia es uno de los estilos de rumba existentes en Cuba. Se baila en todas las ciudades portuarias de Cuba: Matanzas, Cardenas, La Habana, Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba y Guantanamo. Es un baile nacido en las zonas rurales de Matanzas. Luego se traslado a la zona portuaria y de ahi a todos los demas puertos del pais. Incluye un estilo llamado Jiribilla del cual muy pocos conocen en la actualidad. La Columbia es un baile muy acrobatico y de demostracion de habilidades corporales por lo que se reserva exclusivamente para los hombres, aunque existen mujeres que tambien lo bailan. En el baile de Casino solamente esta presente en la estilistica del hombre , como elemento del llamado aguaje del hombre y algunos pasos y figuras esporadicas, a manera de enriquecimiento, pero no forma parte de la extructura coreografica del Casino. El primer balarin que introdujo movimientos de pies de Columbia en el baile de Casino se considera ser Angle Santos. El bailarin de Columbia que aparece en este video se llama Carlos y es un hombre humilde que labora como guardian en una fabrica y que disfruta los fines de semana bailando Rumba Columbia.
