Reading material for the NZ trip

January 22nd, 2010 admin

Subway’s Dubious Nutrition Claims
Think of a healthy fast food chain. Which one comes to mind? If you chose Subway, you’re not alone. According to a recent survey by market research firm Decision Analyst , Subway is the fast food franchise consumers trust the most for nutrition information. Subway is the leader in consumer trust with almost one-quarter (24.2%) of consumers...
More New Zealand pictures
Just a few more pictures from my recent trip. The glorious views over lake Wanaka from Rippon, Central Otago ( above ). This is an aerial view showing Kawarau (left) and Pisa Range (right, with its distinctive black poplar trees), in Central Otago’s Pisa district. This is one of the black poplars at Pisa Range, this time viewed from the ground....

California’s woes, obesity, Buffett, subway reading – sipped and spit
SPIT: good times Hard to tell which phrase would strike more fear in the heart of Napa: finances that are “very weak” or “on life support.” Even foreclosure has been the fate of 10 vineyards in the valley that once was called “Eden.” But probably the scariest phrase is this: “High-rollers are discovering...

Why The Junk Food Industry Will Survive The First Lady’s Anti-Obesity Campaign
In February, to much fanfare and public applaud, First Lady Michelle Obama launched Let’s Move , a campaign designed to eradicate childhood obesity within one generation. Starbucks Thief Picks NYT Over WSJ
Starbucks Thief Picks NYT Over WSJ
In a, shall we say, highly unscientific test of the hometown newspaper war between the New York Times and the Wall Street Journa l, the Times is the victor. A persistent thief has been stealing stacks of the Times from the rack near the door of the Starbucks at 73 rd and Columbus. He (let’s face it, it’s almost certainly a guy) leaves...
