Forget screwcaps versus corks : An English entrepreneur has sold this invention of single-serve plastic wine glasses–stem and all!–to Marks & Spencer, which now “struggles to keep up with demand.” He is laughing all the way to the bank since a business reality show in the UK called “The Dragons” panned...

Plants Are More Like Us Than We Think
A piece in the New York Times the other day put forth a fascinating (if not wholly original) idea: Eating plants might be no more “ethical” than eating animals . The people who avoid eating animals for ethical reasons might have a point. After all, would you like to be killed, chopped into parts, packaged, sold and consumed? “But,”...

The Continuing Mystery of California’s Crackdown on Infused Booze
On Friday, the day I finished writing the feature published today about the state of California’s crackdown on infused drinks , the San Francisco Chronicle ran a front-page article on the subject . Killing Whales Is More Popular Than You Think
In March, the makers of The Cove , an Oscar-winning documentary about Japanese dolphin hunting, purchased whale meat at a Santa Monica restaurant. They had it tested to determine that it was endangered sei, and the feds swooped in. The restaurant, shamelessly called The Hump, expressed deep shame on its Web site and voluntarily shut down. Criminal...

The Real Reason Red Meat is Dangerous to your Health?
Not all red meats are created equal. Better phrased – not all red meats affect our health equally. the definitive guide to salad – part 3 grains, nuts & seeds
If you think salad is all about leaves and dressing, prepare for your world to change for the better. rice I’m a big fan of brown short grain rice.
