For those that have never had it, uni, is the orange reproductive organs of the spiny sea urchin. I know, it doesn’t sound appealing at all, but it’s sweet, rich, and creamy, melting on your tongue into a briny pool of heaven. An incredible dessert cider!

Dragon Orchard Cider Blenheim Orange 2008 9.5% alcohol. A dessert cider made by concentrating apple juice by freezing it, and then fermented over several months. Orange/gold...

I Made Kale Chips, and Hated Them!
I knew I was going to make these chips sooner or later, recipes have been floating around the blogosphere for a while now and I couldn’t wait to try it myself. You see I have a daughter who loves kale, she convinced me to try it, and now I too love kale . In fact we’re growing two different kinds in our garden this year and it’s...
Individual " Lighter" Chicken Pot Pies
Individual " Lighter" Chicken Pot Pies
Winter just wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t make at least one pot pie, lately I tend to shy away from them because normally they’re not the most healthy thing to eat, but this version is not only portion controlled but the sauce is made from a rue whisked with chicken broth infused with garlic and fresh thyme, and yes, there’s...
Are You Consuming Fake Fiber?
Are You Consuming Fake Fiber?
One of the hottest buzzwords in nutrition and health circles, fiber is the indigestible portion of plant foods. It helps us feel full and decreases our appetite. Fiber helps the intestines function smoothly, regulates blood sugar levels, and lowers bad cholesterol. As you probably know, fiber rich foods include whole grains, fruits, vegetables,...
Ricotta Dumplings in Broth
Ricotta Dumplings in Broth
It’s still winter out there, in fact as I write this I’m looking at snowflakes falling. To me, there’s nothing like a bowl of hot steamy soup to warm me up, and this one fits the bill. Not only is it quick to make, providing you have all the ingredients, but it’s also very healthy and light, there’s not one bit of...
Kielbasa with Sweet Onions and Fava Beans
sponsored post As elaborate as some of the things on here may seem, I’m just as pressed for time as the next guy who’s working two jobs. There are some nights when even 20 minutes in the kitchen feels untenable, but I’d sooner eat out, than resort to a microwavable carton of food. That’s why I always keep a stash of ingredients...

I’m here! I’m here! Sorry guys I have not been around long enough to update this page in the last few days. I am held hostage by work – a week long magazine photo shoot. Prepping, cooking, styling, shooting….which is made sweeter only by the fact that these recipes are really tasty (it’s always a gamble to decipher...
Sweet Ricotta Pie
Sweet Ricotta Pie
It isn’t Easter time without a ricotta pie! I know there are hundreds of different ways to make ricotta pie, but if you like the flavor of cannoli’s then you’re going to love this. A blend of ricotta, orange zest, candied orange peel, mini chocolate chips and a hint of cinnamon flavors this pie. You still have plenty of time...
Pollan’s New Rule to Ding Big Food
Pollan’s New Rule to Ding Big Food
One of Michael Pollan’s ” food rules ,” is—or, more accurately, was—to eat only foods that list five or fewer ingredients. But I came upon a video of a January bookstore appearance in which Pollan says, well, forget that rule. Why? Because of the “jiu-jitsu” employed by the food industry whenever someone offers...
